About ANAW
The Africa Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW) was registered in 2006 as an international non-governmental organization based in Kenya. Its focus is on Animal Welfare, Wildlife, and Environmental Conservation.
ANAW’s vision is a world where all communities show compassion, protection, and care for all animals. To achieve the Vision, ANAW embraced a mission to work with Communities, Governments, and Partners to promote the humane treatment of all animals; ensuring that Animals do not suffer or are treated cruelly.
The organization has a network of partners across Africa currently in 34 African countries. It is accredited to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as a Major Group and Stakeholder, and the United Nations Economic and Social Council as an advisor with special consultative status. It implements its activities locally and internationally, across Africa, through three strategic pillars: Capacity Building Education and Awareness, Animal Care, and Human Animal Coexistence.
