Description
The Housekeeping Supervisor does the day to day management and supervision of housekeeping team to ensure a high degree of cleanliness of the hospital environment.
Responsibilities relating to the process:
- Housekeeping Supervisor is to set and maintain exceptionally high standard of cleaning on a daily basis for both themselves and the housekeeping team/s.
- Supervision of cleaning operations and supervision of cleaning staff working in all areas. Ensure that regular inspections of cleaning standards are conducted.
- To maintain cleanliness of cleaning equipment ensuring that all chemicals used in the departments are appropriate, properly labelled and stored.
- To ensure that all housekeeping equipment, furniture and furnishings are maintained, checked and kept in good working order and report all relevant faults.
- To ensure that conference/meeting rooms are cleaned and well maintained and always ready for use.
- To issue and keep inventory records of all housekeeping consumables, updating stocks to ensure they are always sufficient for use and used prudently.
- To report all maintenance issues and ensure all repairs are done on time.
- To organize day to day work requirements in the department and set required standards against which work will be checked for the outsourced housekeeping services.
- To take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety of patients, cleaning staff, other staff and the building and inform immediate supervisor immediately of any safety concerns and in accordance of Hospital Health and Safety Policies.
- Consistently monitoring and reviewing ways to improve timings, standards and systems in order for Housekeeping Unit to continue improving and for budgets to be met.
- Inspecting hospital sites/departments/wards on a daily and weekly basis, ensuring that cleaning is completed to a high standard. This needs to be documented and monitored consistently by use of audit sheets and Inspection checklists. Report needed on a weekly basis to the Administrative Services Lead.
- Be part of committees like HK Quality Improvement Team, Infection Prevention and Control and others as may be appointed.
- Involvement in key projects that relate to housekeeping achieving set goals of the department.
- Oversee the daily collection of waste from departments (work with Incharges) to the designated collection point for the incinerator attendant /tractor driver to pick.
- Develop, implement and maintain a training schedule for the housekeeping staff that ensures continuous capacity building of the team for high performance.
- To record, collect, collate and report housekeeping related data for the Housekeeping Manager in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities relating to the patients
- To ensure that any complaints or feedback from patients are dealt with in a timely manner. To investigate complaints regarding cleaning service and equipment and take corrective action.
- To communicate with the Administrative services lead ensuring that the clients’ expectations are consistently met and where possible exceeded.
Responsibilities relating to the staff
- To ensure that all cleaning staff are provided with uniform and appropriate personal protective, cleaning equipment and supplies and to ensure all staff comply with company standards regarding dress code and appearance. Also ensure that the cleaning equipment are kept clean.
- Along with the Administrative Services Lead, create and maintain a structured approach to staff training, implementing a training system and documenting training. Also to identify relevant training opportunities for staff on an ongoing basis.
- To do annual Outsourced Housekeeping Company performance appraisal and make necessary recommendations to Administrative Lead to ensure it performs well to the required standards.
- To ensure that team members comply with all regulations, follow the set standard Operation procedures and according to the Hospital Policy manuals.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.
- Because of the nature of the business, you may also be engaged in providing customer service, hospitality and other work associated with the operations, administration and maintenance of the hospital.
